Herding Elephants: A 10-Year Retrospective of the World’s Largest Indoor Live Coral Exhibit

J. Charles Delbeek, Curator from California Academy of Sciences will recap the last ten years of the Steinhart Aquarium’s 212,000 gallon (800 cubic meter) closed system live coral exhibit. He will highlight the development of the exhibit, water quality and lighting challenges, system design and operation.

The California Academy of Sciences is a renowned scientific and educational institution dedicated to exploring, explaining, and sustaining life on Earth. Based in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, it’s the only place in the world to house an aquarium, planetarium, and natural history museum—as well as innovative programs in scientific research and education—all under one living roof.
