Three Finalists Selected for Position of HIMB Director

Kāneʻohe, Hawaiʻi (Sept. 30, 2024)-The School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa (UHM) is pleased to announce and introduce three finalists for the position of Director of Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB) on Moku o Loʻe. The applicants have been invited to deliver talks at both HIMB and UHM Main Campus in the coming weeks, to share their vision for HIMB’s mission, support of its faculty, staff, students, and local community, as well as their vision for HIMB in the context of UHM, the state of Hawaiʻi, and the Pacific region. Please read on to learn about each applicant and to view the scheduled dates and times for their talks.

Dr. Jennifer Burns, Chair of the Department of Biological Sciences at Texas Tech University (TTU)

Dr. Kevin Lafferty, Senior Scientist at the U.S. Geological Survey and Adjunct Faculty member at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB)

Dr. Megan Donahue, Interim Director and current Faculty at the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology
